ENCHANTING NORTH EAST

Day 1: Arrive Guwahati – Shillong
Arrive in Guwahati and proceed to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. En route, enjoy a boat ride on the scenic Umiam Lake (subject to operation). Known for its lush landscapes, cascading waterfalls, and warm local culture, Shillong offers the perfect introduction to the Northeast. Arrive by evening and check in at your hotel.

Day 2: Shillong – Mawlynnong Village – Dawki – Shillong
After breakfast, drive to Mawlynnong. Visit the remarkable Riwai Living Root Bridge, an ingenious creation of nature and human skill. Climb to the Sky View Point — a bamboo structure offering panoramic views over the Bangladesh plains — and see the Balancing Rock, a natural geological marvel. Stroll through the flower-lined pathways of Mawlynnong to experience its serene lifestyle. Later, continue to Dawki famous for the crystal-clear Umngot River. Enjoy a wooden boat ride (subject to river conditions). Please note that roadwork in the Dawki area may cause uneven stretches.

Day 3: Shillong – Cherrapunji – Shillong
After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on earth. En route, stop at Elephant Falls. Explore the Garden of Caves, an enchanting natural wonder of waterfalls and rock formations. Continue to the Arwah Cave, known for its stalactites, stalagmites, and ancient fossils. Followed by a visit to Mawsmai Cave, a partially open cave system offering fascinating formations shaped by centuries of erosion. See the majestic Nohkalikai Falls, plunging dramatically from a height of 1,115 feet. Later return to Shillong.

Day 4: Shillong – Tezpur
After breakfast, visit the Don Bosco Museum — one of India’s most advanced museums, showcasing the rich heritage of the Northeast. Later, drive to Tezpur, a historic town on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. En route, stop at Maha Mrityunjay Temple in Nagaon, home to the world’s tallest 126-foot Shivalinga. Arrive in Tezpur by evening.

Day 5: Tezpur – Dirang
After breakfast, continue to Dirang, a picturesque Monpa village. Visit Dirang Dzong, a 17th-century fortress that once served as both defense and refuge, and Thupsung Dhargey Ling Monastery, inaugurated by the Dalai Lama, known as the “place of flourishing of Buddha’s speech.”

Day 6: Dirang – Sela Pass – Tawang
After breakfast, visit the ancient Dirang Monastery and view the surrounding Monpa villages and kiwi gardens. Proceed via Sela Pass (13,700 ft), connecting Tawang to the rest of India, and enjoy the scenic Paradise Lake. Stop at Jaswant Garh War Memorial, dedicated to Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat. Thereafter proceed to Tawang and check in.

Day 7: Tawang
After breakfast, visit Tawang Ganden Namgyal Lhaste Monastery, a 400-year-old Mahayana Buddhist monastery — it is the largest in monastery in India and consists the 18-foot statue of Buddha, sacred scriptures and the ancient thangkas. Later, visit Urgelling Monastery (subject to operation), the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. In the evening proceed to the Tawang War memorial and enjoy a Light & Sound Show (subject to operation).

Day 8: Tawang – Bomdila
After breakfast, drive to Bomdila. En route, stop at Gyangong Ani Gompa and Nuranang Falls. Upon arrival, visit Bomdila Monastery and enjoy views of the Himalayan ranges.

Day 9: Bomdila – Kaziranga
After breakfast, proceed to Kaziranga National Park, the oldest park in Assam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for the one-horned rhinoceros. The region is also home to a vibrant diversity of wildlife, including wild elephants, swamp deer, wild water buffalo, and a spectacular variety of bird species, making it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers.

Day 10: Kaziranga
After breakfast, enjoy an Elephant Safari (subject to operation) through the grasslands of Kaziranga. Later, visit the Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park, followed by an afternoon Jeep Safari accompanied by a naturalist.

Day 11: Kaziranga – Guwahati
After breakfast, drive to Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. Visit Umananda Temple by boat (subject to operation), located on a small island in the Brahmaputra River. If time permits, enjoy an evening Dinner Cruise on the Brahmaputra, famed for its depth and vastness.

Day 12: Departure
After breakfast, visit the sacred Kamakhya Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)

PERMIT REGULATIONS FOR FOREIGN NATIONAL – ARUNACHAL PRADESH:
Permit Regulations – Foreign Nationals (Arunachal Pradesh) (CG)
Foreign visitors must obtain a Protected Area Permit (PAP) online before travel. The permit is valid for 30 days and can be issued by Indian Missions abroad, FRROs in major cities, or the Home Commissioner, Itanagar. Processing requires:
· Passport-size photo
· Passport and India Visa copies
· Round-trip international tickets
· COVID vaccination certificate
· Completed PAP form & undertaking (provided upon confirmation)
Processing time: 10–15 working days.
Citizens of Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan or those with origins in these countries require prior approval from India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. The same applies to those born in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, or Macau.7

Note:
· Rates are based on a minimum of 2 passengers traveling together for the entire tour.
· The road conditions in the North East are not very good, especially in remote areas of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh Even in other areas some maintenance work is likely at any time of the year; travel times may therefore vary.
· The weather in North East is very unpredictable. It is important to carry rain gear while traveling.
· Final confirmation of certain services like Jeep safari in wildlife reserves / national parks are confirmed by the forest department only one day prior; safaris may be cancelled at the last minute due to weather, excessive rainfall, VVIP movement, animal census, or other reasons. If a particular experience is not provided for these reasons, the charges for the same will be refunded.
· Plastic-based items are not allowed inside the national parks.
· Itinerary may change due to weather or local unforeseen events.
· Air conditioning will not function during hill drives for vehicles.
· For photography/videography, sometimes a donation or community fee needs to be paid to villagers; this amount is to be paid directly by the guest. Camera/video charges at monuments (where applicable) are not included.
· November and December are peak season in this region; blocking for an English-speaking guide is recommended 2–3 months in advance.
· Museum, places of sightseeing and markets, in Assam may remain closed on government or local holidays or for other reasons without prior notice.
· Local naturalists in national parks / wildlife sanctuaries may have limited English fluency
· Dress code while visiting the monasteries: full or half-sleeve shirts / T-shirts for both males and females, and full pants for both males and females.
· Rates are not valid during Christmas, New Year, Cherry Blossom Festival, long weekends, or local public holidays.
· There will be no refund on unutilized services or partly utilized services unless mentioned otherwise under any circumstances.
